In admiration of the craft of the designer / illustrator

To mark 100 years since the birth of Ian Fleming, author of the famous James Bond series, Penguin will be reissuing the books as a set. Being a bit of a fan of Penguin book jacket designs, and having a few books celebrating the same, I must say they’ve pulled out all the stops for these re-issues.

Out on 29 May, and exquisitely illustrated by Michael Gillette, I want to buy the set just to sit them on the shelf to be able take them down now and again to admire them.

I think the illustrative style is spot on, their own unique individuality is maintained but they also work togther so, so well as a set.

Absolutely beautiful. Full set viewable here on Gillette’s (nicely named) blog. Buy them here at Penguin.
